Farmers for Justice Sets New Record for Website Traffic
(May 6, 2004 - FFJ) Despite spring seeding grabbing
the attention of farmers across Canada, the Farmers for Justice website
continues to maintain a steady growth, indicated by the hits recorded in
March and April.
"We are very pleased with the amount of traffic we have been
receiving," said Colleen Bianchi, spokesperson for Farmers for
Justice. "This just proves that our hope for equality among
all farmers, regardless of whether they live in the east or the west, is
a hope that is shared by all."
The website has proven itself to be an efficient vehicle for getting
information into farmers hands quickly, Bianchi explained, and is
allowing protesters of the current system to vent their opinions on the
injustice being dealt to farmers.
Since its inception in 2001, the website has maintained an average
readership of just over 20,000 per month, but with the latest
sponsorship scandals in Ottawa, and the continuing battles against the
gun registry and the CWB's designated area, the readership has grown
dramatically, with over 37,000 hits reported in March of this year.
Bianchi credits at least some of this success to the timely posting of
information and material. "It's certainly a combined effort
of a number of people, from the farmers who went to jail to protest the
CWB in October of 2001 to our webmaster at www.familyfarmers.com
who gets the material online, everyone has played a role in our
success."
